Transmission Upgrades
The SPEC Stage 2 clutch includes a high clamp pressure plate, segmented chatter-free Kevlar disc, bearings and tool.  This clutch is rated to 425 ft. lbs. capacity and is described as having a smooth engagement.  Best used in autocross or slightly modified cars.

NOTE:   The stock clutch never needed replacing. This was long since sold. (9/23/2009)

To improve the car's grip in corners, on dirt, and most importantly on snow, I got the Quaife A.T.B. Limited Slip Differential.  The advantages to having an LSD made this a must, even if I don't upgrade the motor.

NOTE:   The stock differential was never replaced. The Quaife sat on a shelf until I finally sold it, unused. Still recommend finding one if you buy the car. The grip it provides is supposed to be dramatically better. (9/23/2009)

The LSD is a heavy little unit as seen here.  When the OEM clutch starts to give me trouble, I'll replace it and install this at the same time.
BG Syncro Shift Transmission Oil went in at 20,000 and again at 50,075 miles.  The change has made shifting much smoother.  This Synthetic transmission fluid is some of the best you can get for our cars.  I'll pour another round in when I finally install my LSD.

NOTE:  There are a few quarts left that will go with the car. (9/23/2009)

The "Megan" Short Shifter found on eBay for $45.00 shipped, was a great upgrade.  The shifts are smooth and short.  Very easy to install, this is one of the best bang for the buck buys.  I really enjoy it.

The silver ball that came with the short shifter was tossed in favor of the stock shift knob.  I like the feel of the stock leather knob, so I shortened it about an inch so that it would fit the new shaft.

NOTE:  The "Megan" Short Shifter goes with the car, and so will the stock shifter if wanted. (9/23/2009)
