Where's Kim Now?

I feel a little explanation is in order.

Ham radio operators are always experimenting with different, what we call, modes of operation. One of those modes is called APRS (Automatic Position Reporting System).

With a GPS, a device called a TNC, and a radio, we are able to take the GPS position data and broadcast it over the radio. Other hams with the same equipment (except the GPS) connected to their computer running an APRS tracking program, can see our position and even watch us moving as we travel along.

Our position is received and rebroadcasted over a network of high level (usually mountain top) sites so that our position data gets the widest distribution. Many of these sites also have an internet gateway giving them the ability to send our position to any internet site that chooses to use it.

Unfortunately, I used to have this setup installed in my SUV, but for now I simply show my new home location. If you go the the internet site APRS you can see other people doing this and get the idea of what I'm talking about. To see where I live click here.
