KIBM HQ IS HERE!
Hi Everybody.
Well, a lot of things going on behind-the-scenes here at KIBM.
First off, the streams are getting updated as always. Every three or four days. Just because I don't post here, doesn't mean the streams aren't updated. Don't worry, they are being updated. My communication skills just aren't the best. Throw in the holiday updates, and the streams are getting updated even more than usual.
Secondly, and most importantly, Live365 introduced a new billing package recently. This is good for me, and might be bad for SOME listeners. What this package will allow me to do is get ALL EIGHT streams open to non-VIP listeners. 7 streams are for sure going to be non-VIP, I'm still not sure if I think there is a need for The Main Stream to be open yet. There just hasn't been much interest in the format. So, if I can think of a different format for it, or if it suddenly becomes popular, I will open it up. Otherwise, it will probably stay in VIP-only mode. Not a big deal, not to many people listen to it anyway.
Here's the bad news. First, let me say that the new billing package effectivally reduces my total Live365 bill by about half. Combine the fact that Live365 has VIP rewards, it will pretty much reduce my total bill down to zero. The station, after ten years, will finally break even! The bad part is that the following streams will only be available to 3 non-VIP listeners at a time.
- Fibber & Gildy
- The Comedy Stream
- GNN
- HQ
- Secrets
Benny Vs. Allen will be open to 10 non-VIP listeners.
The Christmas stream will go on it's annual hiatus into VIP only mode in from January through September.
And, as I said before, The Main Stream will be VIP only, due to lack of interest in it.
So basically, 6 streams will be open to some non-VIP listeners. Christmas will be open from October-December, as always. Main Stream, VIP ONLY. That's all eight of them.
You all know how rough it is economically right now. The fact that Live365 introduced a new billing package means KIBM will go on indefinatelly. But if you want to be able to listen to the streams without problem, you'll have to become a Live365 VIP listener. I'm sorry that it's like this. I remember in 1999 when Live365 first started. Unlimited free slots. Then congress got there hands on internet radio, and it's become more and more expensive to broadcast to fewer people. If you want to blame someone, blame congress. That's a whole other story though ;)
If you want to become a Live365 VIP listener, just click on the link below. You may not know this but the more VIP listening hours KIBM gets, the lower our bill is. If we get enough VIP listening hours, we can up the free slots. Just food for thought.
