Grant Highlights
In 1999, grants were made for the following:
In 2000, grants were made for the following:
· Lee School Classrooms; Mileage Club; grant for a fitness incentive program that includes walking to create good lifetime habits and fitness. Approximately 600 students in first through fourth grade were served. The amount granted was $367.95.
· Fourth Grade Classrooms; Recess Break; grant for a variety of equipment, hopscotch mats, jump ropes, balls and catch disks. Approximately 100-150 students in fourth grade were served. The amount granted was $64.21.
· Sixth Grade Classrooms; Fitness at Recess; grant for recess equipment; jump ropes and balls. Approximately 150 students’ ages 11-12 years old were served. The amount granted was $200.
· First-6th Grade Classroom Gym time; Health Education; grant for health related fitness series for Grades 1-6, NASPE Standards for classroom use. Students served are 1-6th graders. The amount granted was $91.80.
· The Richmond Varsity Basketball Team was awarded a grant to attend the St. Clair Community College Basketball Team Camp. Approximately 18 students were served. The amount granted was $250.
· One college scholarship was awarded to a student-athlete attending Grand Valley State College. The amount granted was $150.
· Sports camp scholarships granted; seven students were granted $100 each to attend a sports camp at a University; grants were made to 7th and 8th grade students.
· Sports camp scholarships granted; six students were granted $50 each to attend a sports camp at a University; grants were made to high school students.
In 2001, grants were made for the following:
· Richmond Football Program; coach Glenn Nuss; Passing Camp at Northwood and
· First Grade Classrooms; Recess Fitness; grant for recess equipment; jump ropes, balls, chalk, and Hula Hoops. Approximately 150 students’ ages 7-9 years old were served. The amount granted was $187.18.
· One college scholarship was awarded to a student-athlete attending
· Sports camp scholarships granted; four students were granted $100 each to attend a sports camp at a University; grants were made to 7th and 8th grade students.
· Sports camp scholarships granted; three students were granted $50 each to attend a sports camp at a University; grants were made to high school students.
In 2002, grants were made for the following:
· Special Education Classroom; Recess Fitness; grant for recess equipment; jump ropes, balls, and Hula Hoops. Approximately 15 students’ ages 10-15 years old were be served. The amount granted was $100.
· Lee School Walking Club; Becky Stewart; grant for toe tokens and mile marker cards. Approximately 550 students’ ages 6-10 years old were served. The amount granted was $194.
· Fourth Grade Classrooms; Sheri Westerhof, Recess Fitness; grant for recess equipment; jump ropes, balls, chalk, and bases. Approximately 180 students’ ages 7-9 years old were served. The amount granted was $150.
· Two college scholarships were awarded to student-athletes attending Western
· Sports camp scholarship granted; one student was granted $160 to attend a sports camp at SC4; grant was made to a middle school student.
· Sports camp scholarships granted; four students were granted $50 each to attend a sport camp at a University; grants were made to high school students.
In 2003, grants were made for the following:

· Second Grade Classrooms; Recess Fitness; teacher Susan Vella; grant for recess equipment; jump ropes, balls, and chalk. Approximately 160 students’ ages 7-8 years old will be served. The amount granted was $250.00.
· Sports camp scholarships granted; two students were granted $120 each to attend a sports camp at a University; grants were made to 8th grade students.
· Three college scholarships were awarded to student-athletes attending Western
In 2004, grants were made for the following:

· High School Basketball Program; Coach Jim Barnes; grant for basketball team camp. Approximately 30 students ages 14-18 years old will be served. The amount granted was $150.00.
· Sports camp scholarships granted; one middle school student was granted $30 attend a sports camp.
· Sports camp scholarships granted; six high school students were granted $50 each to attend a sports camp.
·
· Richmond Middle School; PE Teacher Carolyn Hurd; Pickle Ball Equipment; Approximately 670 students age 9-14 years old. The amount granted was $243.70.
· High School Power Lifting Club; Coach Daniel Schwegler; grant for Powerlifting equipment-Dumbbells. Approximately 100 students’ ages 14-18 years old will be served. The amount granted was $208.
· College scholarship was granted to current senior student-athlete; the amount granted was $250.
Lee Elementary School ; Teacher Amy Barrett; Playground Equipment; Approximately 130 students in Kindergarten. The amount granted was $250.
