A dream becomes reality....the story of the "DREAMSICLE". Somewhere towards the end of the summer, my husband and I made a trip to Sauder's Village to visit the Matthews Glass Studio. Just sort of a look-see, that ,of course, turned into a shopfest. While we were there, Mark was experimenting with new glass canes to improve the colors of the Predator series. Mark is always esperimenting with ways to make the marvelous even more so. One of the canes he had on the table was a scrumptious orange sherbet color with a center of cream . Mary Porter was working that day and she and I promptly coined that color "dreamsicle", reminding us of the yummy frozen confections on a stick made of orange sherbet and vanilla ice cream. We asked Mark to consider making ribbys and reverse twists from this cane. Just picturing the results made our mouths water! Lo and behold, the artist granted our wishes and on Oct. 5th I beheld the results at our first annual "Meet the Artist" day. Mark ,however ,wasn't sure that they were available to the public for sales purposes, so I left that day without my marble in hand. A week or two passed and a phone call or two ,also, and I arrived home one day to find a message from Jim on my computer. Mark had decided that I might purchase this beauty and two dear friends would like to help me with its expense. Talk about a double bonus!!!!!! That very weekend, Roy and I made a trip back to the Village and gathered up my treasure. It was a 70 degree fall day and many smiles were noted on passersby, as well as the beam projected from my own countenance. Thank you Mark! Thank you, Mary and Jim! And thank you , Debbie and Greg! Somehow, somday I will pay this kindness forward! Kathi Warne
