"Not
to know what happened before we were born is to remain perpetually
a child. For what is the worth of a human life unless it is woven
into the life of our ancestors." - Cicero
The Saylor emigrant ancestor, born in Gemmrigheim,
Wuerttemberg. Conrad and Maria Catharine established the Saylor family
in America in 1831.
The youngest emigrant Saylor family member,
who married Barned Hollenbach, had one son, Barned was then killed in
a locomotive explosion. She remarried John Conrad Miller and had three
children.
Adam F. Sr. was born in Gemmrigheim and as
a young man helped establish the Saylor family in Lower Pottsgrove,
Montgomery Co., PA. Adam purchased and operated the original Saylor
Farm.
The Saylor family members were at first buried
in one of two cemeteries: Oak Grove in Chester County, and Edgewood
Cemetery in Pottstown. The burial place of Conrad and Maria has not
yet been found.
John Conrad came with his parents, brother, and sister
to America and he later established the Saylor family in Chester County,
PA; where he operated a very successful mill and farm.
The Saylor family properties include the Saylor farm
in Lower Pottsgrove, Saylor's Mill in Chester County, and various properties
which were once owned by the Sailers in Gemmrigheim, Germany.
