Family History |
William Kunstman was the son of John
and Catharine. He married Sabina Beck and resided in Nazareth where
he was a painter and photographer. During the Civil War William was
a photographer with the Union troops. His work includes tintypes (melainotypes
or ferrotypes), ambrotypes (pictures on glass) from various time periods
and a large collection of carte-de-viste photographs. |
August Heinrich Kunstman arrived in Philadelphia
in 1734 on the ship Hope. They settled in Southeastern Pennsylvania
and eventually one branch of the Kunstman family migrated to Northampton
County and settled in the region of Lower Saucon Township where Philip
Kunstman can be found. Later some Kunstman’s moved to Nazareth
where William Kunstman lived and operated his photography business.
