CENTRAL OREGON

Many isolated mountain ranges populate central Oregon including the Ochoco Mountains and the Strawberry Mountains.  The mountains contain most of the vegetation in central Oregon because they drain what little moisture has got past the Cascades.  It is only on the mountain rises where you can find stands of Pine and Western Juniper.  The many free standing rocks make for beautiful high desert scenery that give many rock climbers something to live for in the middle of Oregon.  You can also see a great distance due to the lack of vegetation.
