DOG MOUNTAIN

WHERE:   From Portland take I 5 north to highway 14 east in Washington.  You will see a sign for Dog Mountain a short distance before the bridge of the gods.

THE TRAIL:  This trail offers the best views of Oregon's Columbia River Gorge portion.  It is a 3,000 foot climb making it one of the highest hikeable trails next to the gorge in Washington.  This is also nice because the Oregon mountains are larger so you can get a good view of the towering steeps that you cannot see from the Oregon side.  There are also nice views into the Washington Cascades.
