MOUNT NEAHKAHNIE

WHERE:     From Portland take highway 26 west to US highway 101 and go south.  There are several trailheads and I really cannot remember which ones I used so just start keeping a lookout as you near Oswald West state park.  A couple trailheads start on the left side of the freeway and there is at least one that you can drive into on a gravel road.

THE TRAIL:  A relatively short 1 1/2- 2 1/2 mile hike up to an elevation of about 1600.  The panorama from the top is beautiful allowing views up and down the coast to the West then around to the coastal mountains on the east.
