JSA – Pushing and pulling accounted for a large portion for causes of injuries. More pushing and pulling JSA’s need to be created, reviewed or changed. Also, Safety will get with PEDC and look into ordering videos on pushing and pulling..andatory Safety Talks - “Mandatory” is the key word. We will only track these labeled
SIGNAGE – Safety captain Ron Wood suggested that stop signs (universal octagon) need to be used in the facility. Eventhough we have signs, the universal symbol would give better emphasis on obeying traffic in the facility.
Checking Chocks – All mailhandlers must get the permission of their supervisor before going into the yard to check for chocks. They only check the truck(s) they are working on and will not attempt to chock the vehicle. Supervisors will notify Vehicle Control of the situation, as well as, their manager.
RT72 issue – dumping sacks as part of mail prep for 19205 mail. Should be dumping into lower level as opposed to RT level, or into wire containers. This is causing more problems. Question – could some of this mail be reschemed to a different Roller Table? Suggestion to have In-Plant group check into volumes for scheme adjustment?
CU-2 – In front of CU-2 there are signs that says do not store empty equipment or mail. The sign is not being enforced. The sign needs to be enforce or remove the signs. Management needs to look at this and make a decision.
APWU
Asbestos – The maintenance locker room floor was having holes drilled into the asbestos tiles. The material was properly contained, but the locker was not clear of personnel. In the future, the locker room will be cleared of all personnel before working on this type of material.
Checklists – Maintenance is working on checklist for powered equipment. The unions want to be updated on that progress.
Spill Procedures – Update the committee on procedures and how to redirect the mail when the spill is on the slide. A hazmat person, maintenance, and mail processing controller should get together to discuss the procedure.
Maintenance – Safety talks are being conducted but not all three days as the should. Jerry Capie will check to see that they get them on the three days of safety talks. (Mon, Tues, Wed).
