APWU

1.      Update on Keyboard painting:  The painting is done but some have been swapped out.  There are 7 more to paint.

2.      Out of 125 inspection items, there are 60 complete; about 48% complete.  All updates will be given to committee members, with a progress sheet of how many items are completed.  This update information will be disseminated as the inspection report is updated.

3.      Al Schindele will check on the cull chutes for the secondaries.  Joe Bates suggested that one be put at the 2-3-4 slide.  We need to check with John Rohrer to see what the process was to obtain this equipment.

4.      John Rohrer will be consulted to see if we can have a sound survey done by him, or someone else.  Check with Janice Johnson about hearing tests for employees.  She is the Occupational Health Nurse Administrator (OHNA) for Philadelphia.

5.      The committee wants to consult with Gloria Prioleau about the driving lines around a runout in N. Primary.  Tank traps have been suggested.

6.

7.      The committee suggested that a newsbreak go out about the results of the air quality testing. Also, a copy of the survey needs to go to all committee members.  Ron Overton will put out the Newsbreak and will also submit the Air Quality test results to the Unions.

8.      All the presidents of all three unions met on Monday, and discussed some things about VPP.  A list of names is compiled to submitted to the VPP Team when they arrive, so they will have a list for interviewees.  A letter will go out to all employees explaining some procedures that will take place during the team visit.

MAIL HANDLERS

1.      Paperwork showing tour 2 completed the safety talk on the wire containers will be forwarded to both unions.  Tom Kelly will submit the letter to the Safety Office.  It will then be forwarded to the Unions.

Lou Morrone agreed to track safety talks using the excel spreadsheet that safety

developed.  The sheets will come into safety and be forwarded to Lou for inputting into

the tracking sheet.  Lou will only be tracking Mandatory safety talks.

2.      Ron Overton and Lou Morrone will get together to create or update JSA’s for the culling stations.  Lou will give input to help with the newly revamped JSA’s books.  A copy of the Dock Lock JSA will be forwarded to all committee members.

3.      PIT aisleways are still being painted. The committee suggested that a walking aisle be established in certain areas of the building.  Also, it was suggested that possibly some storage areas on the West wall could be painted on the floor.

4.      More investigation is needed concerning the use of the rolling stock in the postal pak loaders.  A service talk should be given, and a JSA needs to be created on how to use other types of equipment in the postal pak loaders.  Ron Overton to take the lead on this.

5.      Jerry Capie will get in touch with NJI about how their dock locks work.  Some committee members are concerned about the fact the outside lights are controlled by the locking system.  In the past the outside lights were controlled by the dock doors.  Now everything is controlled by engaging/disengaging of the dock lock system.

6.      There was a safety talk put out concerning using powerjacks to unload/load heavy rolling stock.  The committee would like to see a JSA developed to show it can be done safely, or the safety talk needs to be reissued saying this procedure cannot be done.

** Lou Morrone has agreed to review the 1769s on Sprains and strains.

COMMITTEE

  1. Every supervisor on the docks needs to check the dock lights, and put in a call to have the bulbs replaced oron the lights repaired.  Whenever the lights are not working these procedures need to occur immediately.

  1. A JSA, or SOP need to be developed for maintenance when working inside or outside of the docks.
