Maintenance PM Report

Reviewing the report, it was identified that numerous pieces of equipment which have been removed or converted are still showing on the Maintenance PM Schedules. Overall, maintenance is being performed on the equipment as required. The Main tenance Department will complete an equipment inventory and ensure the VMARS system is updated to reflect the facility equipment present on the floor with the addition of the recent installations.

JSA’s for Sack Shake Out

JSA for the manual dumping of sacks was developed and reviewed with the affected employees. Operations will review the JSA with all employees in the Roller Table areas to ensure every employee received the information. Documentation will be forwarded to safety. Once the completed modifications are completed, the JSA will be updated to reflect the final modifications. It was recommended to have safety gates installed on the steps at the shake-out stations. Safety will work with Main tenance to ensure compliance with any applicable regulations.

1767, 1769 Review

A  review of Hazard Reports indicated some improvement in completion.  However, there were some areas with need for improvement, Safety will address those with the MDOs of the affected areas. A proposal to utilize the 1767 as a Near Miss/Incident report was agreed. Any incident not warranting an Accident Report will be documented and tracked through the 1767 process.

Reviewing the accident reports, documentation of corrective actions was lacking. Safety will develop and implement a corrective action tracking form and provide training to all Supervisors/Managers.

Boat Hooks

Three boxes of telescopic boat hooks arrived. Any work area in need of hooks may contact Safety. Safety will be the control point for issuing and ordering additional hooks as needed.

Area Safety Committee

John Gibson provided information from the last Eastern Area Joint Safety Committee. The facility will review Handbook MS-56 and the Emergency Action Pl an in regards to fires in the facility. Once completed, Safety will establish training for all Main tenance employees to include on-hands fire extinguisher training. Possibly with assistance from the Philadelphia Fire Department.

Dok-Loks

It was identified that if the dok-lok does not engage and a door is open, the green light will remain on the outside. This may cause the inadvertent movement of trailers while loading/unloading. Maintenance and Safety will evaluate and update procedures as indicated.

Safety Captains

The Safety Captains shared two concerns with the committee. The stacking of trays on the tray sorter 3 and 4 high creating an ergonomic risk as well as falling hazard. It was determined that trays will not be stacked more than two high on any leg of the sorter. Safety will develop a talk and issue to all tours. Signs will be posted and the JSA reviewed. Also there was concern over equipment being loading backwards on trailers at Dock 7. Safety will investigate and correct with employees in the area.

Committee Training

Safety ind icated a new web-based EL-809 training course is now on-line. Any new members of the committee will be scheduled through PEDC for completion.

Plant Manager

Mrs. Brittingham indicated the outside lighting project was complete with the exception of some small paving repairs. The additional lighting vastly improved night time conditions. Also, the floor in the West Expansion is scheduled to begin repairs next month. The original floor will be removed and new concrete poured. This should eliminate any problems we have experienced in the past. Maintenance will continue to apoxy small patches until the repairs are completed.

Next meeting tentatively scheduled for 2/27/07 at 6am
