NORTHAMPTON - Lionel J. LaBarge, 80, of Fort Hill Terrace, died Monday at a local nursing home.
He was a teacher of French in the Boston schools and retired in 1977. He taught previous- ly in the Northampton schools.
Born in the Leeds section, he was a graduate of Northampton High School and the University of Massachusetts and earned a master's degree in French after studying at the Sorbonne in France.
He was a World War II Navy veteran with the rank of pharmacist's mate second class.
He leaves two brothers, Leon of Bethlehem, Pa., and Ernest of Oxford, Miss.; and a sister, Pauline Godin of Northampton.
The funeral and burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Leeds at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours and Boucher- O'Brien Funeral Home is in charge.
