Phoenixville is located about 26 miles northwest of Philadephia in the northern-most part of Chester County, Pennsylvania. Phoenixville was, at one time, a major steel producer. The town got its name from the fact that the furnaces brought to mind the mythical bird, the Phoenix, which rose from the ashes to begin a new life. Not only was the "Blob" filmed here, but Phoenixville also produced baseball greats Andre Thorton and Mike Piazza. Here are some links related to my "adopted" hometown:
