What
To Bring To The First Estate Planning Conference
It
is very important that you do your homework before you come to your
first
meeting with your estate planning attorney. Your homework not
only
consists of filling out the estate planning questionnaire sent to you
by
your attorney, but also finding the documents which will help the
attorney
retitle the assets into the name of your revocable living trust.
If
you can locate the following documents, please bring copies of them
with
you:
-
The
deeds to your house or other real property
-
Current
bank and investment account statements
-
Retirement
Account Statements (including IRA, SEP, Keogh, and 401(k))
-
Life
Insurance Information (Copy of your policy or current billing
statement;
and copy of your beneficiary designation)
-
If
you are personally holding any shares of stocks, bring the original
share
certificates
-
Prenuptial
or property agreements
It
is also very helpful if you bring copies of your current or prior wills
or trusts (if any).
