Do you have a place where you can go when you need to unwind? Your own secret place that takes you far away from the stress and hassles of the outside world? Perhaps we all do, at least I hope so. Well, that place for me is my garden. I spend a great deal of time in my secret garden. Many people think that gardening takes too much time, hard work and effort. Once you get started though, you find that the hard work takes your mind off of the stresses of the day and becomes more like therapy than actual work. The beauty that surrounds you, including the flowers, the greenery, and the birds and animals that come into your garden, somehow makes you feel more alive and more in tune with the natural world that we live in. Yes, I do talk to my plants, just as I speak to the trees, the wind, the birds, the rabbits, my cat and his feline friends, and even the fish in the pond. They in turn communicate with me. You'd be surprised by what you can learn from nature if you'd only stop to look and listen ;-) I'd like to share with you some of the beauty and sights of my own secret garden. I hope that they provide you with a bit of pleasure and perhaps even inspire you to start a garden of your own.

The Arbor Garden
The arbor is the welcome portal that all must pass through to enter my secret gardens. It is covered with pale purple and deep purple clematis. Later in the summer the purple passion vine will begin to intertwine with the clematis. As you walk through, you are guided by the celtic stepping stones underfoot.

The Woodland Garden
My woodland garden is a hodge-podge of wild flowers, many of which simply landed and sprang up there all by themselves. Most likely the work of the fairies ;-)

The Shade Garden
This is the shady part of my garden. The Goddess of the sacred spring watches over the plants here, providing a never ending flow of water that spills out from the faucet into the pool at Her feet. In this garden are deep pink astilbes, light pink caladiums, fuschia impatiens, wild strawberries, lavender and soft green moss.

The Rose Gardens
I'm quite partial to roses and have them growing all around the gardens. I have several different varieties in many assorted colors, pink, yellow, white and lots of shades of red. These are just a few.

The Water Garden

The pond is my favorite spot in all the garden. This is where I come to meditate, dream, reflect and perform many of my rituals. Currently in bloom are the yellow iris that come back up each spring. Later in the summer the water lilies will make their debut. For now, the lily pads are simply a nice place for the fish to get out of the sun and to play hide and seek under. The pond is a safe haven for all of the wildlife in the area. The squirrels, rabbits and all species of birds come here to drink and partake of the assortment of tasty little delicacies that I leave for them each day. It is also where the fairies come to dance in that time just between light and darkness, in the gloaming.

I hope that you've enjoyed walking through the garden with me. Perhaps I may add a little more to my virtual garden as new varieties of flowers, plants, and trees take their place in the limelight as the wheel turns us towards late spring, summer and fall. Happy Gardening!
Bright Blessings,Ladyhawk
