After high school, I attended NMSU and graduated with an Associates
Degree in Secretarial Administration. I remained in Las Cruces for a
few years and worked for a real estate firm, then in late summer of 1982
I cancelled my upcoming wedding and chose to return to Los Alamos to
be close to my family.
In the fall of 1982 I worked at Bank of Los Alamos
(Community Bank) and then in the fall of 1983 I accepted a job in the
personnel department of LANL and I met my husband, Larry.
Larry and I
married during the summer of 1984, and I stayed in personnel for a year
and then moved to TA-55 where I worked for three years as a group secretary
for a great bunch of people. I quit the lab at the end of 1987 to become
a full time Mom to my son, Jon, who was born in the spring of 1988, and
then I had another son, Chris, in 1991.
Larry and I lived in White Rock
for 14 years however, when the boys were beginning 4th and 7th grade,
we chose to move back to the “hill” purchasing a home in
a new subdivision, Quemazon, where we remain today.
In the spring of
2001 I began working as a part-time assistant for the real estate broker
that represented a portion of our neighborhood. I was a real estate assistant
for three years, until the project was completed, and in the spring of
2003 I obtained my real estate license and began to work as a real estate
agent for RE/MAX of Los Alamos. I was affiliated with RE/MAX from August
2003 to September 2006, when I left real estate to resume being a stay
at home Mom.
My son Jon is now entering his Sophomore year at NM Tech
and Chris will be a Junior at LAHS where he is active in cross-country
and track. It has been great to raise the boys here, however it is odd
that they walk the same halls as I did, and Chris even had class in my
4th grade classroom! Our class pictures hang in the A-wing at the high
school, which my kids find weird, and my boys have even managed to get
lockers with my picture peering over their shoulders. I think that it
is funny, however, the boys don’t find it as amusing! Currently,
in addition to being a Mom and Wife, I enjoy sewing, quilting, gardening,
and walking 15-20 miles per week around my neighborhood and the pipeline
area of North Community.
