Rick BrodeSpouse/partner: Shirley After high school, I went to New Mexico State (NMSU) and got a degree in whatever would get me out the quickest. (It turned into the 5 ½ year plan.) I worked at White Sands Missile Range doing UNIX system administration for a few years and then went to work for a research lab back at NMSU. I got married at the age of 33 after not being able to run fast enough to avoid the woman who is now my best friend. We moved to Princeton, New Jersey, two years later where I worked in the computer center of another university. We meant for it to be a short-term arrangement so we could see what life on the east coast was like. We had a wonderful time for 4 years and then moved to Denver where I began a new career as a UNIX trainer. I've been doing training ever since, traveling the country and world over. I currently run my own consulting and training company and thus waver between self-employment and unemployment depending on how much work I get. I lead music at a small Christian church which we attend in the mountains outside Denver. For a hobby, I raced bicycles in the 80's. Although I still ride as much as I can, I'm now fat, lazy, and slow. Unfortunately, I'll be out of town for work the week of the reunion and will not be attending. |
