After high school I went on to NMSU and graduated in 1982 with a BSEE, followed in 1983 with a MSEE from the University of Michigan , and an MBA from Purdue University in 1997. In 2001, after spending the first 18 years of my career in various positions/levels at Bell Laboratories, I decided to live the "start-up dream" working for two small VC backed companies in Boulder. However, within the last year I settled in (at least for now) as the VP of Engineering and GM of the Shanghai Design Center for a small company, also in Boulder, called Carrier Access (I still live in Colorado but travel frequently to China). In between a very busy work and travel schedule, I spend my time with the real joy of my life, my family.
I have been married to my wonderful wife Lana for 25 years and we spend most of our time and money traveling throughout the United States and Canada watching our two boys, Cody and Kyle, play competitive ice hockey (I still have no idea how/why they decided to play hockey instead of one of the "old school" sports). Last year Cody moved to Canada to play Junior hockey with a goal of going on to play in college while pursuing a career in health and fitness education. Our younger son Kyle will be a senior in high school and also hopes to go on to play hockey in college while pursuing a degree in aeronautical engineering (at RPI or the University of Michigan).
Between hockey trips, we spend time in the beautiful Colorado mountains: skiing, backpacking, fishing, and hunting. I do get back to New Mexico a couple times a year to visit my family in Los Alamos and Albuquerque and hope to see you all in a few weeks at the reunion.
