Having missed the 10th and 20th reunions, I was determined to be present at the 30th. However, a work assignment on the very same weekend has dashed any hopes of me geing able to attend. So I sadly submit my biography knowing that I am going to miss out on yet another reunion and an opportunity to catch up with my classmates.
Having read many of the biographies already submitted, I was truly impressed. So many have been so successful and so many have made significant contributions to the world we live in. I am proud to be part of LAHS Class of 1977. As for me, nothing so noteworthy, but all in all, I can't complain.
I moved to Arkansas in 1979 where I accepted a position with Eastman Kodak. I worked in cost accounting, cash management and internal auditing until 1995. I was then assigned as branch manager of Eastman Credit Union. I have been in that capacity ever since. Twenty eight years with the same employer. Holy cow … does time fly or what!! I had a 24-year marriage that ended in divorce in 2004. I have a wonderful 18 year-old daughter that recently graduated from high school with honors and will be attending the University of Central Florida in Orlando in the fall majoring in science.
My spare time I spend performing my true passion, police work. I have been a reserve police officer for our local department for over 20 years. It is there where I feel I truly make my contribution, helping people.
I have been blessed with good health over the years and have been into long distance running (completed several marathons including Pike's Peak). I am also into long distance cycling, fly fishing, golf, and riding my motorcycle whenever I get a chance.
I have tremendous memories of LAHS. Primarily of my involvement with the band as I was so proud to be a member of Mr. Mac's Magic Band! Jan McDonald is a teacher who truly loves his craft and to this day is still performing, sharing his talents, and teaching; a person whom I am forever grateful for teaching me much of what is important in life.
Well … I guess that's it. Party on Class of 1977! I hope to see some of you soon or at least catch up with you via e-mail in the near future. Sorry I can't be there to walk down memory lane.
