After high school I went into the United States Navy and went around
the world (Africa and back) with them. Not something to do again if I
had a do-over. After
six years of doing that (them ‘doing’ me?) I came back to Los Alamos
and went to UNM, both here and in Albuquerque. I went for many years (nine I
believe) all the time working for Los Alamos National Laboratory. I never received
a degree but was able to attain Technical Staff Member in spite of that bothersome
detail. I work as an RF (Radio Frequency) Engineer here at the Laboratory designing
mostly satellite hardware in applications ranging from ionosphere studies to
national security. I like my job and my hometown. I understand why our parents
were here and why so many of us remained. Los Alamos is a wonderful place.
I met the girl (aka the &*#$%) I would divorce in 1988. Married
her in 1992. Had my son in 1998 and got divorced as 2004 was ending.
This series of events
enabled the production of what I term 'the best boy in the world,' my son Ryan.
He’s awesome!
I hope to retire from the Laboratory, with 25 years in, at the age of
51 or 52 (not far away) and move to a small 15-acre farm of mine over
to the northwest
of Las Vegas, NM, and grow raspberries. The easy part is the dreaming …
