Warning: This paragraph will most likely bore you! I graduated from
New Mexico State University with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration
and a bachelor of Art degree in Journalism and Mass Communications. I
met my husband, Tom, in college. After graduation, we married and moved
to Michigan to start careers at Electronic Data Systems. Throughout our
twenty plus years at EDS, we've had multiple careers. My first was as
a systems engineer supporting various GM engineering systems. After that,
I wanted to pursue a career in the marketing arena while maintaining
my momentum in the technical arena. EDS gave me the opportunity to start
a marketing and communications unit to support GM's vehicles sales and
marketing applications. For the past 10 years, I've been involved in
many implementations of global systems including a worldwide purchasing
system for GM and a global engineering system for Delphi. Tom's career
started as a business analyst on various dealer systems for GM, including
Pulsat. He continued to support other satellite systems and eventually
landed where he is today at Onstar.
Our daughter, Erica, graduated from Michigan State last year and is
nearly a full year into her career in Madison, Wisconsin. Her and her
boyfriend, Brad, moved there last summer. Brad graduated from the University
of Michigan last year. They're both athletes, very competitive, and love
to banter back and forth about the UM-MSU rivalry. They grew up together
in our hometown, Lake Orion, and remained best friends until their sophomore
year in college. It was then that they decided to start a more serious
relationship. Despite the rivalry, they're very compatible and fun to
hang out with. They're closing on their first home in June!
Our son, Billy, is currently a junior at Indiana University in Bloomington,
Indiana. Go Hoosiers! When he was a senior in high school, he earned
the Mr. Soccer award for the state of Michigan, the NSCAA Player of the
Year for Michigan and NSCAA All-American. IU offered him both an athletic
scholarship and an academic scholarship. He absolutely loves the IU soccer
program. Outside games and practices, he’s pursuing a degree in
Real-Estate and Finance. He made the All-Academic Big 10 team. He's living
in Bloomington this summer, working as an apprentice on the construction
of a townhouse complex in the lot right behind his house. He's learning
and doing anything and everything--whatever they need him to do. Go
gophers! Tee Hee!
And last, but not least, we have a golden retriever named Max. He's
18 months old and cute as can be!
In our spare time, we travel to watch IU soccer games or visit with
family or friends. Tom also runs a soccer club. We really miss New Mexico,
especially
the sunsets. We manage to fly back there a few times a year to visit
my folks. We frequently talk about retiring in New Mexico. We also
talk about retiring in the Midwest so we can be closer to Erica and Billy
in the hopes that some day we may be healthy and active grandparents!
Looking forward to the thirtieth reunion--I missed the tenth, and
if we had a twentieth, I missed that one too! Living in Michigan
for more
than twenty years has kept me off the radar screen. Cheers to the
Internet! And cheers to the class of 1977. Go Toppers!
