Lisa (Holmes) WheelerSpouse/partner: Jon Children: Daniel (26) and Sheryl (23) After high school, I headed south to New Mexico State University. I met Jon at NMSU and received my "Mrs. degree." Jon was commissioned the following year as a 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. We headed to our first duty station at Hill AFB, Utah. While in Utah, our first child, Danny was born. After 2 1/2 years in Utah, we received orders to Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan. Our second child Sheryl was born at Camp Lester Naval Hospital. We returned to the states in 1986. Jon was accepted to the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio, to pursue his master's degree. His degree program was a 15-month program. We liked the area so much we decided to stay. Eventually, Jon left the Air Force, although he still works on the base. I attended Wright State University (named for the Wright Brothers who were native Daytonians). I received my B.S. Ed (summer Cum laude) in `992 and my master of education in 1996. I worked in Dayton Public Schools for 4 years then moved to Xenia Community Schools (about 20 miles east of Dayton) where I am currently employed. For the past 6 years, I have been a 2nd grade teacher at Spring Hill Elementary. Next year, I am slated to move up to 4th grade. |
