The day after graduation I was sitting on a gray hound bus bound for
Tennessee to learn how to sell books door to door (with a slight head
ache from the night before). In Illinois I decided selling books wasn't
for me and I escaped to Michigan to work on my uncles' farm. What a great
summer that was!
From there I went to Davis, California for my B.S. in chemical engineering.
After that, I was as a process engineer at an Intel wafer fab in Livermore
for my first job in California. Working there my interest changed
to electronics and software; in the evenings I took classes at a junior
college,
and eventually Cal State Hayward.
My next job, for 6 years, was for a small company called Allergan
Humphrey (San Leandro, Ca) that made instruments for ophthalmology.
For the last 16 years I have worked as an embedded software engineer
for Curtis Instruments in Livermore. During part of this time
I enjoyed a wonderful commute to San Jose State for a MS in electrical
engineering/control
systems. Curtis builds electronics that control electric motors
in battery powered vehicles; wheel chairs, cars, golf carts,
fork
lifts,
boom lifts,
etc (some of these controlling up to 700 amps). I live in Modesto
Calif., which is hopefully known for something other than being
the former home of Scott and Lacy Peterson. Since it was also the
home of George
Lucas,
each summer there is a American Graffiti festival consisting
of 2 weekend
classic car shows. My happiness now is from my family, our 1971
Chevelle, classic cars, brewing beer, bonsai trees, camping,
tennis, and golf.
