Kaminski's Land Sharks go on attack
RICK FORTENBAUGH, Staff Writer August 19, 2001
If Kaminski's Land Sharks end up as the champion of the Class Super E bracket of The Trentonian/Perrine Buick Pontiac GMC Softball Tournament today, it won't be hard to identify one of their key moments in the tournament.
In an excellent winners' bracket final on Mercer County Park's Field 1 yesterday, Kaminski's roared back with eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to nip Mercer Safe & Lock of the Hamilton B League.

This was just an excellent game with Mercer Safe & Lock appearing to take control with seven runs in the top of the sixth.

Instead, Kaminski's out of the Sports Outlet League in South Jersey staged a clutch rally to move into a commanding position.

The losers' bracket will resume this morning at Mercer County Park with R&R Associates of Cedar Grove playing PCT of Riverside and Harm's Construction of Freehold going against Gersh's Place/Bill's Olde Tavern.

Whichever team emerges from that group will take on Mercer Safe & Lock.

Although it has a long way to go, Gersh's might not be out of this because it played short handed yesterday with several players attending a wedding. The runner-up team in the Mercer National League will reportedly be at full strength today.

Kaminski's Land Sharks won four games yesterday, downing R&R Associates, Spanks & Walt's Bombers, Ryder's Lane Exxon and, of course, Mercer Safe & Lock.
