Excellent source of information, including many reference links.

Another good information source, this is a creation of the Library of California.

>

Monster selection of Linux and Open Source links.  Project is hosted by Source Forge and is GPLed.

>
Barnum & Bailey
If you want a "Panoramic Plethora of Fabulous Fun Stuff," visit the Ringling Bros., Barnum & Bailey Circus website.  There's interesting history and good stories about today's performers.  You can take the Ringmaster's Quiz or a Circus Aptitude Test, send free postcards, "Barnumize" your email, design your own clown face, and more.  Really entertaining!

The WWW Virtual Library
Good now and should just keep getting better.  Example: I found a great list of zoo links to click on.

>
Project Gutenburg
Thousands of books to download.  The cost is just the effort to deal with text on eye-straining monitors.  Occasionally we print out whole books, and amateur bookbinding has lead to interesting results.

Dr. Ashliman's Folklore Pages
One of the best folklore and mythology sites on the web.  Dr. Ashliman retired from the University of Pittsburgh in 2000 but continues to gather and translate folklore and myths.  This site is plain as pudding -- no dancing rats, no exploding flags -- just page after page of carefully prepared text, his life's work.  Click on any of his five "WWW Sites" to find hundreds of delightful stories from around the world.

>
Old Christmas Lights
It is Bill's Antique Christmas Light Site and is an amazing labor of love.  It's cheerful.  It's fascinating.  It's the web at its best.  Bill Nelson doesn't sell, by the way.  He just collects.  There is an immense volume of information here, and it is all well and pleasingly organized.  And, wow, what pleasant trips down Memory Lane this site takes you on!

Nature Writing
This web site is devoted to nature writing.  It has a growing list of authors, links to nature authors of high literary merit, advice on nature writing, and, not least, it has a link to the photo pages on this site :^)
