The pigeons were clustered thickly on this chimney, which
was currently in favor as a resting site for the actively soaring birds.
When they decide to go, they go explosively...

This hawk dines
on pigeons when he can catch one. His eyesight is far superior to that
of man -- it has a telescopic capability. The eyesight of his quarry
is also far above ours. If it were not, there would be fewer pigeons,
and fewer hawks.

Meanwhile,
at the park, the ducks continue their social and dining activities despite
the snow on the ground, as these tracks attest.

The sky clears
and the drake-generated waves reflects blue sky.

Later, soaring
pigeons move through watercolor clouds over the town. The present
time seems to be a particularly active season for the satisfying activity
of soaring. |

The cold color
of winter settles on the waters as a drake makes his way to the overhanging
bushes where he will sleep.

Across the road
lay the strata of stone that had tillted in some far-off time. The
snow outlines the ancient layers.

Still soaring
in what I dare to think as pleasure, the pigeons fly high into the colors
of another season.

The sun eases
down in the south-southwest to end a lovely winter day. Perhaps the hunt of the hawk was successful, and
one pigeon that saw the dawn did not live to see the sunset. If so,
then the hawk took strength to fly again, and tomorrow would be another day
to hunt, as it would be also a time to soar for the pigeon kind.
