Owning Our Experience

Enhancing Pleasure, Power and Passion

Why do we tend to limit our experiences of Pleasure, Power and Passion? The answer is that our attachments to personal Safety and Security prevent us from fully showing up. Our need to protect ourselves our image though contraction, control and caretaking mean more to us than the possibility of enhanced creativity, accepting our nature and freedom of choice. In the pursuit of minimizing risks, we throw out creative exploration and expansion. Thus, our fears of being rejected, discounted or caught up in fanciful options that will not be made real—supersede our desire for deeper, more integrated experiences. This self-limiting notion that it is better not to experience or acknowledge the full range of possibilities (so we do not experience any great loss) is the basis of upper boundary assumptions (what we want that sabotages us). The first issue is to acknowledge that our personality mechanism, (how we survive and succeed) attempts to help us by limiting our appetite and diminishing our expectations. It does this so we can control the amount of disappointment we experience in our lives. Unfortunately, this sets us up to live within our personality framework and all of the repressed fears and desires it contains.

There are four ways we close ourselves down or limit our ability to take in and accept new experience. They are denying Sensations, Feelings, Emotions and Thoughts. The key to expanding our experience is both to deepen and integrate these four frameworks of experience. When we deny our ability to be present in any of these continuums, it creates limitations in experiencing Pleasure, Power and Passion. What is more frustrating is that our imbalances around Sensations, Feelings, Emotions and Thoughts create dissonances and disconnections with others with whom we want to get along. At the core of this issue is the inability to express ourselves or be seen in our authentic nature. We limit expressing our Beauty, Truth and Goodness because we fear being creatively out of control. The more we listen and accept the Fears and repressed Desires of our personality mechanism, the more isolated and separate we feel. What would it be like to step into the possibility of expressing our experience and getting honored for it?

This course will help you assess where you hold yourself back. It reveals how we sabotage our expressions. It clarifies those opportunities where we can step out and be accepted (or not). It teaches about self-imposed constraints where, because we are not present in a creative way, we limit our experience of Pleasure, Power and Passion. To fully experience Pleasure, we need to be present physically and integrate our Sensations and Feelings. To empower our inner and outer understanding, we need to integrate our Emotions and Thoughts. Without Pleasure and Power, enthusiasm and Passion (Feelings and Emotions) are greatly diminished. What would life be if we were not limiting ourselves and our experiences? Who would we be if we could speak our truth and not be reactive or self-deprecating? What if there was no need to apologize for, limit or deny our greatness? What if you did not need to define yourself based on what others would accept? Can you imagine giving yourself permission to find your own experience and express it? The benefit of exploring this possibility is that we can discover what holds us back and heal ourselves of these self-imposed limitations.

What if we could engage and heal the inner discontinuities that keep us from deepening our well being and expressing our truth? This inner integration of our outer reactions allows us to accept that our evolving creative nature is in our own hands. We then know that no one can impose their version of the truth upon us without our agreement. Our ability to interpret our experience in a way that empowers us is the first step in re-claiming our truth. The next step is to create conscious connections by holding our relationships separate from our personal space so we maintain a choice about how and where we wish to connect. We will practice new Common Neutral Ground techniques for eliminating our reactions and regaining our ability to be whole and present in any circumstance. Along the way we will discover why we have fallen into co-dependent patterns so we can recreate our choices that limit personal fulfillment.

We will also discover the value of having a self-created vocabulary for talking about our inner experiences. We will explore how we experience the discontinuities of Inertia, Intensity and Resistance that limit our experiences of Pleasure, Power and Passion. Recognizing that we underdo or overdo Sensations, Feelings, Emotions and Thoughts can give us the key to balancing and integrating these areas. It allows us to open up and be more flexible and fluid with different ways of being with our experiences. The more we expose ourselves to the patterns of entanglement that limit our understanding of self, the more compassionate we will be with ourselves and others. We also will discover that our patterns of protection do not succeed in protecting us, but merely reinforce our pushing others away. We invite you to explore and unpack the limiting patterns of the past so you can experience a rebirth of epic proportions in your ability to be present in the world. This is how we embrace our greatness!
