Oscar's Café
Springdale, Utah (last visit: September 2007).
American.
Springdale is the main gateway town to Zion National Park. The town has a number of hotels, restaurants, stores, adventure outfitters and the like.
The Menu
The emphasis is on hamburgers. BIG hamburgers. A half pound burger is the smallest you'll find. Most come mixed with a generous amount of garlic. Other options include bacon, cheese, pineapple, and jalapeño peppers.
The Atmosphere
Very informal. Many tables are outside - recommended if the weather is good. Service is relaxed and friendly.
The Meal
I ordered - of course - a hamburger. Given my low expectations for food near national parks, I was pleasantly surprised. It was cooked as requested, it was juicy, and had good flavor. The accompanying sweet potato fries were very good indeed.
Summary
Oscar's is a very simple restaurant, but with good hamburgers. I would definitely return.
The Bill
Oops - I didn't write this down. It was somewhere around $10.
