- To use third party filters, you'll need to have copies of the msvcrt10.dll and plugin.dll in your Windows:\System folder.
If you don't have them, you can get msvcrt10.dll HERE and plugin.dll HERE.
- Start by creating a folder (NOT in the PI program folder and preferably on a hard drive other than C) and name it Plugins.
- Now create individual folders, inside that folder, for each set of plugins you will be installing.
For example....Xero, Visman, and Simple are a few of the best, free, third party filters available,
so you would create a new folder inside your Plugins folder and name it Xero, another named Visman, and another named Simple.
- Download and unzip the filter to the appropriate folder.
- Open PI and click on File > Preferences > General.
On the left side of the dialog box, click on Plug-ins, just under PhotoImpact (Click the + if necessary to see the subcategories).
- Put a check in front of a number, or click the little button on the right with three dots (...).
Navigate to your newly created Plugins folder and click OK. Your folder is now added to the list.
Click OK, then close PI, then reopen. Open a new image, go to Effects > Plugins and there they are!
- By creating your folder outside of the program's folder, you can un- and re-install PhotoImpact without losing your new plugins.
You'll simply have to repeat steps 4 and 5 with your fresh install of PI.
By creating it on a drive other than C, you won't need to worry about losing them in a crash or reformat.
Does it make sense now? HAVE FUN!
