My husband's BALLARD ancestor information is "extremely" limited at this time... and the following information is
just a start and hopefully I will have the opportunity to provide much more BALLARD information here at a later date.
At this time I know that my husband is a descendant of Samuel BALLARD (b. 1818 in TN; d. 12 Feb. 1865).
He married Nancy SCOTT (1817-1885) on 26 August 1841 in Knox Co., TN. From census and other misc. information I have found
that Samuel and Nancy had the following children (that I know of...):
1. Marcus L. (Mark) Ballard, b. 1843, TN, married Alziney KIDD on 30 August 1865 in Blount Co., TN. They had at least three children: Samuel R., Ellen and Nora - all but the last child were born in TN. Nora was born in Illinois.
2. Samuel Ballard (b. 1845).
3. Mary Adeline Ballard b. abt. 1847.
4. Martha Ballard b. abt. 1850.
5. Nancy Ballard, b. abt. 1852.
6. Ann Eliza (Anlisa, Annie) Ballard (b. 1858, d. 1935) married 17 October 1872 to
Josephus C. (Joseph) BELL in Blount Co., TN.
Their children were: James (Jim) Bell, John Bell, Samuel Henry Bell, William J. (Bill) Bell; Nellie A. Bell
who married a Mr. Bailey, Charles S. Bell, Carrie F. Bell (male), and Lula L. Bell who married Richard Abbott on
18 Feb. 1907 in Blount Co., TN.

25 Apr 1997 - Michael C. Bell is a descendant of the same Ballard family as my husband! He is a descendant of John Bell and Malinda J. Roberts/Raulston? and their son Joseph Bell and Anna Eliza Cassandra Ballard. Through Joseph and Ann Eliza's son John Riley Bell and Sarah Brannum. Through John and Sarah's son Frank Donaldson Bell and Anna Mae Turpin.

15 Apr 1997 - Jean Mayfield Cuevas is attempting to establish further roots on her BALLARD gg grandmother, whom she's been told was Elizabeth Ballard, md. to John FERGUSON, of TN.
Jean has the following on her ancestors:
Although I do not have dates on them, I do on their son, Joseph Thomas
Ferguson b. Dec 6, 1866, d. Jan 1945 in Izard County, AR.
An AR researcher found a marriage record at the appropriate time period for
a John Ferguson and a Sarah L. BALLARD, I believe the marriage took place
in Lawrence County.
Does anyone have connections to Ballards in this area of the Country? I
would love to hear. Any help at all would be appreciated.

Carolyn Long's Homepage has some info. on Descendants of Jesse Ballard of Anson Co., NC 1862.
11 Apr 1997 - Gary and Jacquelyn Romberg are also reasearching a Samuel Ballard who was born about 1810 in Tennessee. He appears on the 1840 census in Pulaski Co., MO. In 1850 we find him in Lawrence Co., AR and 1860 he is in Taney Co., MO. George H. Ballard may be his brother. Samuel's wife was Eliza Current. She may have been a second wife. Did they marry in Pulaski Co., MO? Samuel's known children are: Morning, Mary Ann, George W., Margaret, Samuel M., and Mathew Richardson Ballard.>BR>
We don't know where Samuel and Eliza lived in 1870. Mathew was in Marion
Co., AR and Samuel M. was in Lawrence Co., AR. Was Eliza married first to George Emberling? Who are Samuel's parents?

The following information appeared in "Southside Virginia Families", Vol. II by John Bennett Boddie under "Barham Family of Surry":
(page 28) - Claudius A.W. Barham, son of Ann Cocke (Hunnicutt) and Joseph Barham, was born Apr. 27, 1832, in Surry Co., VA and died in Asheville, N.C. Aug. 19, 1911. At Goldsboro, N.C. Oct. 18, 1859 he married Alexine Goldsborough (Ballard), daughter of Martha Partial (Wells) and Jethro Ballard, who was born Dec. 17, 1839 in Suffolk, Nansemond, Co., VA and died May 13, 1884 in Durham, N.C. They had eight children: Claude Virginia Barham; Virginius Ballard Barham; Charles A.W. Barham; Undine Urquahart Barham; Fredericka Barham; Jethro Ballard Barham; and Landon Earle Barham.
