Lorena Shell Eaker states that when our family signed in German, the spelling was Ecker and only changed the "C" to "A" for the English version…

Peter Egger/Eckert/Ecker/Eaker (son of Peter Egger and Margaretha Frydag) was born possibly 16 May 1689 Canton Bern, Switzerland. He appears to have left Switzerland about 1719 and worked their way down the Rhine River to Holland where they boarded ship for America in 1741. The Diemeringen Reformed Church book identifies Peter Ecker as a swineherd at Ratzweiler (near Diemeringen) and a Swissman born in Canton Bern.
He sailed in 1741 aboard the ship "Lydia", arriving in Philadelphia 29 Sept. 1741, also travelling with the Mauney family which also settled in Lincoln/Catawba Co. area of NC.
Peter "Acre" Sr. received 266 Acres on both sides of a south branch of Indian Creek by Lorance Kyser's land...and sold this on 22 Aug. 1773. (Lorena S. Eaker states that if you take the road to Webbs Chapel Church out of Crouse, NC, off Route 150, and stand in front of the church looking toward the crossroads to the north and west you will be looking at this land and standing on the southeast corner of this grant... The church sits on the Eaker grant while at least a portion of the cemetery is on Lawrence Kyser's grant). Peter would have been 85 years old at the time of the sale of this grant in 1773.

Peter and Veronica Eaker had at least four children confirmed in the Diedendorf Reformed Church book in Alsace:

2 - Catharina Eger in 1732…. Appears to have married Jacob Mauney ca. 1739. (Jacob was the son of Hans Jacob Muni/Mani/Mannie/Mauney and Anna Maria Werly).
