  • Tennessee GenWeb Page - This is a great site! If you're researching in Tennessee, this is the location to visit! TNGenWeb lists all counties and person(s) to contact about those counties.

    Tennessee State Library and Archives has many searchable records online.

    Genealogy Forum will let you post and view surnames! - Great site!

    The Roots Surname List (RSL) is a list of surnames (over 110,000 in August 1996, submitted by over 7,500 net.genealogists) with associated dates and locations. Its purpose is to enable genealogical researchers to locate others interested in sharing and comparing data about the same families.
    How to Subscribe and Unsubscribe to the Roots Surname Discussion Lists: -- just click on the list you want. When the "mail-to" window pops up, write just the single word "subscribe" in the body of the message. That's all.
    If you want to unsubscribe from a list, click on it and write just the single word "unsubscribe" in the body of the message only.

  • The Library of Congress (http://www.loc.gov/) is making detailed American Panoramic Maps from its collection available, thanks to a gift from LizardTech, which has donated special file-compression technology. The software reduces the size of the map files by more than 20 times. Users can view the entire image or zoom in for greater detail. No special software is necessary.
  • Tiger Mapping Service a project sponsored by the U.S. Bureau of the Census to provide a public resource for generating high-quality, detailed maps of anywhere in the United States, using public geographic data.

  • Xerox PARC Map Server has a scalable map of the world. Point, click, and zoom in.
  • Yahoo Maps Very cool map - just punch in an address, with zip code, anywhere in the United States, and it'll give you a detailed map of the area (with point to point driving directions too).
