My husband's earliest Knox Co., TN Price ancestor begins with James PRICE, born abt. 1810 in TN.
James was married to Mahala MAYFIELD (b. 1814, SC) on March 8, 1834 in Knox Co., TN. Mahala was most probably the daughter of Brady MAYFIELD (born 1770-1780, SC), who was the only MAYFIELD to appear in the 1830 Knox Co., TN census. An interesting note: Mahala MAYFIELD had a brother named "WILLIAM CARSON MAYFIELD" (Doug's web site has further information on him...). Perhaps that is the namesake of her son Wm. C. PRICE???

James PRICE (b. abt 1807-1810) was residing with his son William C. Price (b. ca1848-50, TN) and Wm's wife Angeline during the 1880 Knox Co., TN census. Wm. C. PRICE married Emma "Angeline" TARWATER on December 18, 1873, Knox Co., TN (by J. W. Ventis, JP) bn. J. A. Tarwater. Emma Angeline TARWATTER's parents were Peter Wesley TARWATER b. 1815, TN and Sarah "Sally" BEAN (b. ca1815, TN).
According to census, Wm. C. PRICE was a farmer in Knox Co., TN. Wm's wife Angeline was born abt. 1847-51 (varies per census) in TN and the place of birth for both her parents was TN.

William "Billie" and Angeline Price had three children (two of whom were still living by 1910 Knox County, TN Census: Viola and Cordena). They lived nearby one of their daughters (Cordena Price-Bell) during the 1910 Knox Co., TN Census. Their children were:

1. Cordena "Deannie" Price, born abt.1875 in TN. Her full name may have been Savannah Cordena Price (the 1880 census shows her name as "Savannah"... She married Samuel Henry Bell - see The Bell Genealogy Page for further information on their line... and to see a photo of the Bell family with the Price family!)

2. Anderson H. Price was born abt. 1876, Knox Co., TN. Nothing further is known about him at this time. He was not living by 1910. His mother's information per 1910 census is that she had a total of three children, two were still living in 1910: (Viola F. and Cordena).

3. Viola F. Price, born 1884 in TN. Was shown on 1910 census with her parents - and she was noted as being single at age 26.
