Below is a list of three generations of the early line of Ramsour's. (I have much more...)
They came from PA to Lincoln Co. NC in the mid 1700's. The spelling varies
from Ramsour to Ramsaur to Ramseur in early records, but I have maintained the "Ramsour" spelling
to help me keep them in some kind of order in my database...
I have more complete info. on places of birth, death, burial, etc. for most of these individuals,
but to save space I only included the year of their birth and death.
My direct line is through Deiterick's son Jacob and through his daughter Margaret Ramsour-Warlick.

There are many sources of information on this early Ramsour/Ramsaur family. I can provide a list
of resources if you're interested.
Below are two references on the history of this early NC family:
From notes found in the Lincoln Co. NC Library:
"Diederick Ramsauer, a miller and Christian Reinhardt, a tanner, erected a mill, a tan yard, store
and blacksmith ship near the junction of Clark's Creek with the South Fork of the Catawba....
As the site selected was the converging point of a number of important Indian trails, which soon
became public roads, this place developed rapidly into the center of trade for a large region
of country which was fast filing up with sturdy and thrifty population. It became known as
Ramsour's Mill, was 20 miles west of the main Catawba River and 36 miles north west of Charlotte,
in Mecklenburg Co. NC".
From "Annals of Lincoln Co. NC" by Wm. Sherrill (pages 42-43):
"Diedrich Ramsour, the pioneer, died in 1780 and his will was probated in March of that year.
He had several sons, two of whom were Jacob and David.
1. Jacob operated the Ramsour Mill in 1780, the year the battle was fought on the nearby hill.
His son David, married Sarah Wilfong and they were the parents of Jacob A. Ramsour and Mrs. John
F. Phifer of Lincolnton....
2. David, was the father of John Ramsour who married Elizabeth Heedick and represented the
County in the House of Commons, 1797 and 1798, and among the sons were: Jacob, Daniel, Andrew
and Henry....
page 77: "David Ramsour, son of Diedrich Ramsour, the pioneer, died in his 50th year on
Feb. 23, 1812."
page 92: "Jacob Ramsour, son of Diedrich Ramsour, the pioneer, died Jan. 11, 1826."
