Reinhardt Families From Germany to PA to N.C.

NOTE: There are discrepancies in some of the information on the Reinhardt family shown below...

For example:
(1)...if Jacob was born before 1735 then he would have been only 10 years of age ( or a little more ) when he married in 1745.
(2)...to have been a reasonable age ( like 18 ) when he married in 1745 Jacob would have to have been born about 1727. However, if he was born in 1727 than Daniel could not be his father since he would only have been 11 years old in 1727...

The information below was collected from many sources and shared among many researchers, so If anyone can help with any discrepancies or questions regarding this family, please contact me.

From Lincoln Co. Public Library, the following was found on the surname Reinhardt (author not noted):
"The surname Reinhardt is of German and Swiss origin. The name can be found in a variety of spellings including:
Ranehard, Ranehart, Reinhard, Reinhart, Reinharte, Reynhart, Reinheart, Reinheardt, Rienhart, Rienhardt, Rinehart, Rinhot, Rinehardt, Rheinhardt, Rhinehart, Rhinehardt, Runhart, Runhardt, and Rynhart.
There were about eight Reinhardt families that came to America between 1727 and 1750. They are listed as passengers on ships which brought German Palatine immigrants to the port of Philadelphia:"

1. Johann Phillppus Reinhardt who arrived on the ship "Pink John and William" on 17 October 1732.

2. Ulrich Reinhardt, b. 1704 and his wife Barbara, b. 1710, arriving on the ship "Hope" on 28 August 1733. Ulrich and Barbara Reinhardt settled in Chester County, PA.

3. Conrad Reinhardt on ship "Townsend" on 7 October 1738.

4. Daniel Reinhardt on the ship "Friendship on 3 September 1739.

5. Johann Thomas Reinhardt on ship "Friendship" on 23 September 1740.

6. Andreas, Franz and Frederick Reinhardt on the ship "Neptune" on 25 October 1746.

7. Deitrich Reinhardt on ship "Patience" on 25 October 1748.

8. Heinrich Reinhardt on ship "Lydia" on 19 October, 1749.

"It is a tradition in the Christian Reinhardt family that Daniel Reinhardt was their ancestor, that his wife was named Charlotte, and that they settled in York County, Pennsylvania where they had a tannery. It is also tradition that Daniel and Charlotte Reinhardt had the following children:

1. Christian Reinhardt
2. Jacob Reinhardt
3. George Reinhardt
4. Catherine Reinhardt

It is said that Daniel Reinhardt was born in Wutenburg, Germany in 1716.
Some of the Reinhardts migrated southward from Pennsylvania to North Carolina. Christian Reinhardt settled near present day Lincolnton in Catawba County (which was formed from Lincoln Co., N.C., which was originally part of Mecklenburg County), around the early 1750’s at Ramsour's Mill. He is said to have been born in Nassau, Germany on 6 January 1735 and died in Lincoln Co. in March 1818.

My Reinhardt ancestors begin with original settler was Christian Reinhardt , Sr., son of Daniel and Charlotte Reinhardt who came to York County, Pennsylvania on the ship Friendship on September 3, 1739. Christian was born in Nassau, Germany on Jan. 22, 1735 and was four years old when he arrived in America. In the 1750’s he arrived in Mecklenburg County, N.C. About January of 1869, Christian Reinhardt, Sr. married Barbara Elizabeth Warlick (born June 17, 1754; d. 1806), daughter of the Pioneer Johann Daniel Warlick and his wife Barbara Schindler.

Christian Reinhardt, Sr. and his wife Barbara Elizabeth Warlick had the following eight children:

(1) Elizabeth Reinhardt, eldest child of Christian Reinhardt, Sr. and Barbara Elizabeth Warlick, was born on 3 September 1772. She married John Zimmerman, and she died Jan. 1851 in Gaston Co., N.C.

(2) John Reinhardt, (1773-1845) second child of Christian Reinhardt, Sr. and Barbara Elizabeth Warlick was born 5 May 1773. He married on 19 March 1798 to Annie Moore, daughter of Alexander Moore and Elizabeth Robinson. John represented Lincoln County in the House of Commons 1799 and 1800.
Their daughter Elizabeth (Eliza) Reinhardt (b. Nov. 19, 1800 in Lincoln Co., N.C.; d. 12-1-1864) married Daniel Loretz (1802-1851). Daniel and Elizabeth Reinhardt Loretz were my great-g-g-g grandparents.

(3) Christian Reinhardt, Jr., third child of Christian Reinhardt, Sr. and Barbara Elizabeth Warlick, was born 3 October 1775 in Lincoln Co., N.C. He married Mary "Polly" Forney, daughter of Gen. Peter Forney and Nancy Abernathy on Jan. 25, 1803. They had nine children (five sons and four daughters). Christian died in Memphis, Tennessee on 27 December 1839.

(4) Daniel Reinhardt, fourth child of Christian Reinhardt, Sr. and Barbara Elizabeth Warlick, was born April 16, 1779 in Lincoln Co., N.C. He married Fanny Hoyle. Daniel died in 1842 in Waleska, Georgia.

(5) Barbara Reinhardt, was the fifth child of Christian Reinhardt, Sr. and Barbara Elizabeth Warlick. She was born Jan. 9, 1783, and died June 19, 1797 in Lincoln Co., N.C.

(6) David Reinhardt, sixth child of Christian Reinhardt, Sr. and Barbara Elizabeth Warlick, was born on July 8, 1786. He married Margaret Alexander. David died in January of 1849 in Raleigh, N.C.

(7) Michael Reinhardt, seventh child of Christian Reinhardt, Sr. and Barbara Elizabeth Warlick, was born on Sept. 14, 1790 in Lincoln Co., N.C. He married Mary Moore. Michael died in Lamar, Mississippi on Oct. 24, 1852.

(8) Charles Emmanuel Reinhardt, eighth and youngest child of Christian Reinhardt, Sr. and Barbara Elizabeth Warlick, was born on January 23, 1795 in Lincoln Co., N.C. He married Mary E. Rudisill. Charles E. Reinhardt died in Memphis, Tenn. in 1848.
