Per "A brief history of the Tarwater family" - by Charles B. Tarwarter, (Microfilm of photocopy of original published: Knoxville, Tennessee : C.B. Tarwater, 1957. viii, 72 p. Tarwater, Charles B. (Charles Burton), 1886-1965 (Main Author): "Jacob Tarwater (ca. 1720-1798), a Revolutionary War soldier, was probably born in Germany. He immigrated to America in 1765 and settled in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Modelena, had at least four sons. The family migrated to Knox County, Tennessee, between 1785-1790. He died at his home near Neubert Springs, Tennessee. Descendants listed lived in Tennessee, Indiana, Missouri, and elsewhere."
Abstracted from the Rule book: "The Rule family of east Tennessee and extended points", compiled and edited by William Rule III. "Records list five daughters and a son, born 1813-1831, to Michael and Elizabeth Dill Rule. The son, Henry Rule (1813-1911), was the second son of Michael Rule. He married Nancy Tarwater (1813-1910) in 1834 in Knox County, Tennessee. They had eight children, 1835-1849. The family migrated to Polk County, Missouri, in 1857. Descendants listed lived in Missouri and elsewhere. Includes the Tarwater, Cox, and other related families.
