Allen Chaple AME Church

Allen Chapel, the Cathedral of Southeast, Washington, DC, is a community of faith, empowered by the Holy Spirit to give excellent witness of the transforming power of God in Jesus Christ for our families, our communities and our world. We aspire to be an ever-growing family of Christ’s disciples who connect communities in faith for destiny.
Born and raised in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Malcolm knew that he would always get married in an AME Church. This was even truer as he now is a pastor in the denomination that he has loved all of his life. While Lauren joined the AME Church during her teen years, she too desired a wedding in a church that bore the denomination where she had now become a faithful member. Little did they know that both of their dreams would come true.
The beauty of belonging to a connectional church is that there is an AME Church anywhere you want to be. Allen Chapel, where the Rev. Michael Bell is pastor, will be the perfect location to seal this partnership in ministry. Why Washington, DC? This area has always been the couple's favorite place to visit. Whether it was late night walks near the national monuments or simply a boat ride in the Potomac with Calvin, Washington has long been a quick getaway for the two. Malcolm and Lauren will exchange vows in the same church that President Barack Obama and his family worshiped in during Resurrection Sunday earlier this year.
