On Hawes Street, The Hawes Homestead

This Hawes house, built on what is now Hawes Street running between Thurston Street and US Rt 1, was a typical example of early colonial architecture. When it was demolished, one room was carefully dismantled and removed to England where it was reconstructed in the American Museum as an example of a Colonial American home.
