Bruce has been both drummer and percussionist for Layers on and off since 1998. Interests and influences cover a wide range of music including Rock, R&B, Jam bands, Fusion and Jazz, and drummers such as Dave Weckle, Carter Beauford, Omar Hakim, Buddy Rich and Clyde Johnson, to name just a few. Additionally, Bruce also plays Fife and Drum music,occasionally "sitting in" with the 2nd MD Fife and Drums. According to Bruce "Playing Fife & Drum musing is a great way to really learn your rudiments because you can't play that music with out having them down solid." and it shows when he's on the stage with Layers.

Outside of music, Bruce is into photography, cycling, American Civil War reenactments and, lately, Kettlebell workouts.
