STEWART WALDEN - Guitar/Vocals

Stewart Walden synthesizes a thorough knowledge of guitar theory with an instinctive feel for the instrument that is rarely surpassed.
He started playing guitar at age 12, and formed his first band at 14.  Walden then went on to major in jazz guitar in college, where his original compositions remain standards, performed by students at recitals and juries.

Stewart joined Layers in 1979.  Impressed by the band’s free-form atmosphere, he found the climate conducive to expanding his creative abilities.  He is a prolific composer, and his original, “Jimmy the Doctor” placed 3rd in the Chesapeake Regional Songwriter’s Competition.  Walden’s work with Layers has won him honorable mention in Maryland Musician Magazine’s “Best Guitarist” category two years in a row, and he has recorded guitar solos for Crack the Sky’s John Palumbo.

Walden is a natural guitar wizard, satisfying both himself and his audiences with a unique style that is independent of electronic gadgetry and fast and flashy riffs.
