Lazy M American Mastiffs
AMBC Approved Breeders of American Mastiffs

About Us:

We moved to our farm in 2003, and began a small horse business.  Having raised, trained, and worked with labrador retrievers for many years, we were already a dog family.  After we lost all but one of our labs, we decided it was time to purchase another dog.  We loved our labs, but wanted a change, so we began to research different breeds.  We had always liked the English Mastiffs but did NOT want to deal with the drool.  We live on a 23 acre farm, so our dogs have plenty of safe running room.  However, we do also run a business from home, so we needed a dog who would be protective but not aggressive.  We came across the Flying W Farm site, read about the American Mastiff, and decided that this was the dog for us.  A year and a half later, we got our first American Mastiff, Tonka, who is a direct descendent of Flying W Farm’s foundation stock.

Right from the start, we were in love.  Tonka was such an “easy” puppy: easy to train, friendly and loveable, and, best of all, she required only love and attention from us to be happy.  It quickly became clear to us that this was a special breed, and we wanted to take part in promoting the breed, and spreading the American Mastiff love.  We petitioned the AMBC for membership, were accepted, and then acquired Dozer and Zoey, who also trace their roots back to Flying W Farm stock.  Dozer is from Deep Wood Mastiffs, and Zoey is from Hidden Acres Farm American Mastiffs.

Although we have plenty of running room, we chose to keep our American Mastiff population small enough so they all could live in the house with us.  Our dogs are like members of the family.  We have to remove a seat from the mini van so they can accompany us on vacations, and to the soccer fields.  We are now more commonly known as the “American Mastiff people” rather than as “horse people”.  We can often be seen walking the dogs around town, training them at the local parks, and bringing them to schools and businesses around town to visit.  Our goal is to get our dogs certified as therapy dogs so that we can share the love and joy these dogs bring to all who meet them.
