Introducing the Loaded Dogs
The Loaded Dogs originally formed in 1997 as a five piece Traditional Country band with influences ranging from Haggard and Jones to Vince Gill and Tracy Byrd.
The band started out playing every Friday night as a house band at Jenny's restaurant in Columbia, TN. During this time, the band became a tight-knit group of musicians and friends.
The band continued playing at Jenny's every Friday night and various other clubs in the middle Tennessee and Northern Alabama area on Saturday nights. Eventually, most of the band members got the call to pursue opportunities playing on the road with various artists, which was why we had all moved to Nashville in the first place.
All of the band members are well seasoned players and have been in the music industry for many years, sharing the stage with such artists as Johnny Rodriguez, Vern Gosdin, Loretta Lynn, Joe Nichols, Darryl Worley, Trace Adkins, Alabama, Tammy Wynette, Emmylou Harris, Mark Chesnutt, Tracy Byrd, Freddie Hart, Jack Greene, Michael Twitty (son of Conway Twitty), Brad Martin, MC Potts, Brandon Sandefur, Damon Gray, Joanie Keller, Alan Frizzell, Johnny Tillotson, Darnell Miller, Marty Brown, and talk show host Jerry Springer.
Present Band Members:
Perry Bolin – Bass Guitar and Vocals
Perry originally hails from Australia and grew up in Tamworth, “Country Music Capital of Australia.” He studied flamenco & classical guitar but wanted to play country music like what was on the radio. His band, “Soul Country,” from Australia, won Best Group award at the 1981 QCMA Awards and were runners up at the ACMA Awards in 1982. He was a session bass player and vocalist for ENREC Studios in Tamworth from 1986 to 1990. He first moved to the United States in 1990, residing in Ventura County, California and moved to Nashville in 1992, where he played with many artists both locally and on tour.
Jeff Clayton – Drums
Jeff originally hails from South Orange, New Jersey and has been a professional drummer since 1980. For many years he was a fixture of the Broadway music scene in Nashville. If you've visited downtown Nashville in the past 17 years, chances are very good that you saw him playing with a vast array of talented artists. He has toured in 49 states, as well as Europe and Korea with many very well known acts.
Shawn Sprouse – Steel Guitar & Acoustic Guitar
Shawn originally hails from Weston, West Virginia. In 1994 he became the steel guitarist for a traveling act called "The Players,” formerly known as "Billy Ray Cyrus and The Players." He has opened shows for Hank Williams Sr's. original band "The Drifting Cowboys", Joe Diffie and Eddie Money, just to name a few. He spent many years playing the local honky tonks in West Virginia and in 1997, moved to Nashville, playing with artists both locally and on tour.
TBD – Lead Guitar and Vocals
This group has come back together out of friendship and the love of country music. Country music has changed a lot since the time we all moved to Nashville to pursue music careers. Sadly, it seems that Nashville has forgotten its roots. Through it all we have managed to stay true to our influences. So if you are looking for a band that can play the old traditional stuff of years gone by, 2 step music and some waltzes, give us a shout, we would love to come play for you.
