Tioga Pass usually closes by mid November

Dinner suggestions:

There are several places in Mammoth as you head out.  Try the 'A' frame building on the left.

                        Thousand Island Lake

1 hour:

½ day:

Travel to Minaret or Cecil Lake.  Trail is predominately sand and forested until you ascend into views of the Minarets.  Camp above Cecile Lake.

Few hours:

Scramble up to the summit of Volcanic Ridge and look out west upon the Minarets and east into Nevada.

Full Day:

Return to Devil’s Postpile via Shadow lake.  River Trail is most direct & flat.  The JMT is a bit more scenic.  If you are crunched for time, retrace your steps back to the Postpile.
