Short Season in 2009August 3, 2009 -- Well, we decided that even though Ryan is heading off to St. Xavier University soon, we would try a few races. We started with a weekly race at Madison on July 17th. We were not too bad right out of the trailer, but got real lucky when the invert for the feature put us on the pole for the Feature. We were fast by this point and Ryan took off to a pretty good lead when a caution flew on lap 3. Then on the restart Ryan took off again and the caution again flew on lap 7. Well, on the following restart the motor started to give out and we had to pull off. It turns out we had a stuck exhaust valve. We spent the week getting the motor repaired and setting up for the Plover big 8 race. We made it to the race and backed up last year's top qualifying run with another great qualifying run and ending up second is time. We started the feature in 11th and made our way up to 6th with only 17 laps left when Ryan ended up getting a little wide while going around a lapped car and went into a slow spin and had to go to the back. We finished 17th after all... We decided to hit the Dells on Saturday July 25th. With the invert we started fourth and because of rain during the night the outside lane was very slick. Ryan slid back to 7th and then started forward. He ended up in 4th for the night and was moving forward at the end. It was a fun relaxed night of racing. We finished our short season with a race at Madison. We weren't quite as fast as we had been, we were on old tires, but we managed to make the competitive field through the last chance race. We were moving forward when a caution flew for a wreck in turn 2. On the restart we hit something on the track and as the field came to the green our car wouldn't turn, so Ryan brought it into the infield. It turns out the debris in turn 2 put a hole in our right rear tire, taking us out of the race. We may try to race the August 29th special race at Madison, otherwise, Ryan is off to Football at SXU....
