BRANCHES OF LEMAVIA
The House of Lemavia is the oldest lineage bearing the surname
López de Prado, and the origin of several branches which established new domains
in other parts of the Kingdoms of Galicia and Castile,
where they proved
nobility at the
Royal Chancery of Valladolid (es: Real Chancillería de Valladolid).
The following Royal Provisions of Hidalguía are preserved at the
Archives of the Royal Chancery of Valladolid:

1728: Don José López de Prado and Don Pedro-Antonio López de
Prado, established in Lugo and San Salvador de Ansemar (Castro del Rey,
Lugo). Protocol of Nobility 0916.0001.

1774: Don Andrés López de Prado, established in Aranda del
Duero (Burgos), Director of the Royal Post Office.

1785: Don Bernardo López de Prado Noguerol y Quiroga, Don
Francisco López de Prado Noguerol y Quiroga, Don Miguel López de Prado
Noguerol y Quiroga and Don Pedro López de Prado Noguerol y Quiroga,
established in San Esteban do Mato and San Vicente (Moreda, Lugo). Protocol
of Nobility 1170.0001.

1789: Don Diego López de Prado, established in San Pedro de
Momán (Castro de Rey, Lugo). Protocol of Nobility 1185.0046.

1797: Don Fabián López de Prado Sagastizábal, established in
La Coruña. Protocol of Nobility 1206.0036.

1801: Don José López de Prado Noguerol y Quiroga, established
in Monforte de Lemos (Lugo). Protocol of Nobility 1211.0012.

1803: Knight Don Andrés López de Prado y Sagastizábal Sequera
y de la Costa, Brigadier General of the Royal Cavalry, Knight of the Royal
Order of Carlos III, Director of the Seminar of Nobility, established in
Medina de Rioseco. Section of Knighthood 1207, National Historical Archive
of Spain.
Following the information contained in
these judicial documents and the baptismal records of San Christobal de Martín
(Lugo), three branches derived from the House of Lemavia (Lamela). It is worth
noting that each of these cadet branches tended to keep using names previously
given to Lords of Lemavia, evoking their same family tree and common ancestry. All
cadet branches descend from Don Gabriel López de Prado, IV Lord of Lemavia.
Don Gabriel López de Prado and Doña
Bárbara López de Somoza y Goyanes had among other sons:

Don Francisco, baptized on October 7th 1593 in San Christobal de
Martín (Book I of Baptisms, page 99). His godparents were Don Antonio
González (nephew of Bachiller Don Juan González, the priest who baptized
him), and Doña Catalina de Vega. As the oldest son, Don Francisco became the
V Lord of Lemavia and head of the lineage of
López de Prado.

Don Andrés, baptized on May 6th 1599 in San Christobal de Martín
(Book I, page 155), had for godparents Álvaro López and María Fernández.
Don Andrés López de Prado y López de Somoza
married Doña María Hernández on March 12th 1625 in San Christobal de Martín. The
couple then moved to San Juan de Silva (Lugo), probably to the Manor owned by
the family of Doña María Hernández. Among their children they had:

Don Francisco López de Prado y Hernández,
born on January 29th 1627 in San Juan de Silva. Don Francisco's godparents
were Captain Don Isidro Díaz y his wife Doña Inés (Folio 4, San Juan de
Silva). Branch 1.

Don Juan López de Prado y Hernández,
born on April 23rd 1638 in San Juan de Silva. Don Juan's
godparents were Don Antonio da Veiga and his wife, both residents of San
Juan de Silva (Folio 13, San Juan de Silva). See Branch 2.
BRANCH 1
Don Francisco married Doña María Ana López de Quiroga. The couple
moved to San Pedro de Hermunde. Among their children they had:

born on December 20th 1659 in San Pedro de Hermunde. See

born in 1665 in San Pedro de Hermunde. See Branch 1.b.
BRANCH 1.a
Don Pedro López de Prado,
Justice and Lord of San Juan de Silva, married Doña Isabel de Obarrio. Among
their children they had:

Don José Gabriel, baptized on March 24th 1692 in San Juan de
Silva. On April 3rd 1726 he requested the Royal Chancery of
Valladolid to certify his nobility, which was enforced by Sentence of
October 12th 1728.

Don Pedro Antonio, baptized on April 21st 1695.

Don Miguel López de Prado, baptized on March 29th
1708. He became the Justice and Lord of San Juan de Silva.
Don Miguel married Doña Tomasa Pardo Polín, daughter of Don
Fernando Pérez Teijeiro and Doña Josepha Pardo Polín. Among their children they
had:

Don Diego López de Prado, baptized on June 10th 1756 in San
Juan de Silva. On March 7th 1788, he requested the Royal Chancery of
Valladolid to certify his nobility, which was enforced by Sentence of
January 12th 1792.

Edict of the year 1709 of Don Pedro López de Prado, Justice and
Lord of San Juan de Silva,
by which he acknowledges the Order received from the King of Spain to carry out
a Census of all inhabitants
in his dominions of San Juan de Silva and Riberas de Lea (Castro de Rey, Lugo).

BRANCH 1.b
Don Francisco López de Prado y López de Quiroga
married Doña Isabel Vázquez on March 3rd 1689 in San Esteban do Mato.
Among their children they had:

José López de Prado, baptized on December 11th 1689 in
San Esteban do Mato. He married Doña Ana de Quiroga. Their sons were Don
Bernardo, baptized on July 26th 1722 and Don Francisco Javier, baptized on
May 15th 1736. On November 17th 1785, they requested
the Royal Chancery of Valladolid to certify their nobility, which was
enforced by Sentence of April 1st 1786. Don Bernardo married Doña
Isabel Pérez, daughter of Don Juan de Ulloa and Doña Inés Pérez. Their son
was Don Pedro López de Prado Noguerol y Quiroga, who was born on August 1st
1754 in San Esteban de Mato. On November 17th 1785, Don Pedro
requested the Royal Chancery of Valladolid to certify his nobility, which
was enforced by Sentence of April 1st 1786.

Don Fernando López de Prado, baptized on July 3rd 1692 in San
Esteban do Mato. He married Doña Dominga Pérez, daughter of Juan de Regulfe
and Juana Pérez. Their son Don Miguel López de Prado requested the Royal
Chancery of Valladolid to certify his nobility on November 17th 1785, which
was enforced by Sentence of April 1st 1786.

in San Esteban do Mato.
BRANCH 2
Don Juan López de Prado y Hernández
married Doña María Hernández. Together they
had a son named Don José López de Prado, baptized on June 29th 1629 in Medina de Rioseco (Valladolid).
Don José López de Prado married Doña María Sequera on September
26th 1691, daughter of Don Francisco Sequera and Isabel de la Vega.
Their son Don Manuel López de Prado was baptized on December 21st
1712 in Medina de Rioseco.
Don Manuel López de Prado married Doña Antonia de Sagastizábal on
February 24th 1737, daughter of Don Pedro Ignacio Sagastizábal and Doña Melchora de la Costa. According to the Royal Provision of Hidalguía of his
son Don Fabián, Don Manuel was a Coronel of the Regiment of Algarve. Among their
children they had:

Don Andrés López de Prado y Sagastizábal, baptized on March
17th 1752, Brigadier General of Cavalry, Director of the Seminar of Nobles
in Madrid and Knight Grand Cross of the Royal and Most Distinguished Order
of Carlos III.

Don Fabián López de Prado y Sagastizábal, baptized on January
25th 1756. Ship owner at the harbour of La Coruña. He requested the Royal
Chancery of Valladolid to certify his nobility on July 12th 1798, which was
enforced by Sentence of November 28th 1799.

Don Manuel López de Prado y Sagastizábal, Master in Law,
Prosecutor at the Royal Chancery of Valladolid.

This Order of Knighthood is, ever since its creation, the most distinguished
civil award that can be granted in Spain.
Only 300 Knights or Ladies can be members of the Order at a time, most of them
Heads of State or Royalty.
