d.   Charles John Hall was born on 24 June 1923 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., Oklahoma.  He married Naomi Jean Arthur on 11 April 1945 at Supulpa, Creek Co., Oklahoma.

In 1997, Charles wrote the following article about his early years.  I remember living in Oklahoma City.  It was during prohibition.  One particular incident stands out in my mind.  My Sister, Marie, and I and a friend thought we could make some money by selling our father's home‑made beer.  We lined it up on the front porch and tried to sell it as soda pop.  My friend's "big" uncle saw what we were doing and started yelling at us and we really scattered.

As the depression of 1929 became a reality, we moved to Earlsboro, Oklahoma, an oil boom town.  Boom towns attracted some very unsavory characters.  On Saturday night with their "pay" in their pockets the oil field workers would come to town to have a good time, drink, fight, dance, etc.  Sunday morning you could find passed out drunks, people who had been robbed of their money, and also a few killings now and then.  While living in Earlsboro, my three older sisters attended St. Mary's Girls Catholic boarding school at Sacred Heart, Oklahoma, this school was a mission school taught by the St. Benedictine nuns.  After a time the oil boom died down and most of the workers left about as fast as they had moved in.

My father moved the family and his cleaning business again, this time to Maud, Oklahoma, another oil boom town.  I was four years old at the time.  It was there that I was run over by a car that severely injured my right foot.  This accident was to change my life forever in many unseen ways.  In spite of this trauma, my boyhood in Maud was a happy, carefree time.  I had some wonderful experiences.    Our family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, when I was a teenager.  I attended St. Gregory's College in Shawnee, Oklahoma, a Catholic High School and Junior College boarding school for young men.  My father became involved in buying and selling real estate.  After several more moves to and from Oklahoma City, his health began to fail.  He died from heart problems in 1948.   In 1944, I met my wife to‑be, Naomi "Jean" Arthur.  We were married 11 April 1945. We have been blessed with two children, Charles David in 1951 and Sandra Jean in 1952.  I retired from Amoco Production Company after 37 years.  We celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1995.  At the time of this writing, we are living in Tulsa and are enjoying our retirement years very much. ‑ ‑ Signed, Charles J. Hall, April, 1997.
