Moorestown Township has been active in fire prevention sice the adoption of a Fire Prevention Code in 1950. This code was enforced by Lenola Fire Company members who held the designation of "combustible inspectors". It wasn't until the adoption of the Uniform Fire Code of New Jersey in 1976 that the office of the Bureau of Fire Prevention was formed. The office was located in the rear of the Lenola Fire Company Station 313 and was staffed by a Fire Inspector. In 1998, a secretary was added due to the increase in businesses within the district. In 2002, the Board of Fire Commissioners purchased the property at 225 North Lenola Road and the Bureau moved to its present location.

Fire District 2 has seen much growth in the last 15 years, from approximately 125 businesses in 1976 to the current number of 513. The Bureau is presently responsible for the code complaince of these businesses resulting in approximately 1100 fire safety inspections per year. In addition, fire prevention education education classes are offered on the proper use of portable fire extinguishers, fire drills and fire safety at no charge.

The bureau no has On-Line Forms which can be printed out and returned.
