It's Superbowl 2002 night and many Chi Alphans gathered together in Chi Alpha House to watch the game. Chi Alpha House is the nickname of the apartment where Jeremy, Ricardo and I live. From L to R: Ricardo, his pomeranian Scottie, Jeremy, Tasi, Kristen, Erica (lying down), Jeffrey and me. Now most people are scared of snakes, but not this lady (middle photo). Surely one of the bravest girls I've ever met, Kristen Zukosky didn't mind picking up Genghis and having him crawl all over her. :-P Genghis is Jeremy's pet Columbian Red-tailed Boa Constrictor, measuring 7 1/2 feet long. He keeps it in a large cage next to the T.V., and I make sure the lid is always fully secured for my mental health. The last photo presents Tim Sontag (one of our grad students) and more shots of Ricardo and Jeremy. Rick looks like a downtown L.A. hoodlum, but in fact, he's actually quite nice. A few Chi Alpha regulars are missing from these photos, most notably Leah Wilkes De Riel, Joshua Sanchez and Ethan Bancala. Besides Cornell University, neighboring Ithaca College also has a Chi Alpha chapter. Lena Ergen, one of the Ithaca College Chi Alphans, is a fantastic person. :-)

The photo on the left was taken during the Spring of 2001. Connie Blair (leftmost) graduated to pursue higher goals in chemical engineering. She is accompanied on the right by Ricardo, Esther, me, Jay Lucia (standing), Jeremy and Brad Bates. Ever wonder what the church that we go to looks like? You're in luck- on your right is the interior of the Ithaca First Assembly of God church.

The Ithaca Assembly of God is a thriving congregation of 300, led by Pastor John Sotero. Pastor Sotero is one of the most charismatic speakers I've ever met; spend a minute with him and you'll like him. He's not like some tele-evangelistists who yell all the time on T.V. - no, I don't care much for them either - but rather a very down-to-earth pastor with a sincere heart for God. No wonder the church has grown so much in the past couple of years!

L-R: Valerie and Micah Spiwak, with their son Isaiah, and Patti and John Sotero

Of the 300 participants, around 50 to 75 are college students (from Ithaca college and Cornell), so we have a healthy college ministry, served in part by Chi Alpha. Not all of these students attend Chi Alpha - many of them go to Cornell Christian Fellowship, Campus Crusade, Fellowship of Christian Singaporeans or the Navigators. No problem, of course. Choose the fellowship that's best for you - God works everywhere!

By the way, if you're interested in giving our church a visit, please email Ricardo Ekmay and he'll hook you up with a ride. Or if you prefer to drive yourself, their address is 197 Bostwick Rd, Ithaca, NY 14850. Phone: 607-272-5313. Services start at 10 am every Sunday morning, and last until about 12 or 12:30. Please visit their webpage!

Watch out, here comes the Paparazzi!!

OK, here's a series of photos that are bound to make a certain member of our happy group embarassed. It was taken after a Chi Alpha meeting one night, when Serendipity's mom just came to pick her daughter up.

Hi there, Ms. Rinonos. Lookin' good today. Stop! No pictures! Call my lawyer! Powerless to stop the persistent Paparazzi.

(Due to "privacy concerns" of the individual involved, these photos are not enlargeable. Please accept our sincere apologies)   =)
